Weight Loss

Don\'t let love ruin your weight loss goalWell, things have been absolutely weird of late - last 3 or so weeks to be precise!  I haven’t been focusing that much on my weight loss and fitness, simply because of the ups and downs of life and all that it brings!

I know, no excuse!  I mean the good thing is that I haven’t gained any weight, I just haven’t lost any more!  I have been going to the gym, but had no real program laid out to follow and so, I’m pretty static in that department too.

So what’s caused all of this?  Well a new relationship has crept up on me and I find myself losing focus and all my plans go flying out the window.  A day that should be laid down and planned, gets trampled on and thrown out of the window at the drop of a phone call or an unexpected walk in the park.  All of which is great and heady and everything, but will he still love me when I’m fatter?

People, do as I say not as I do!  Don’t let anything or anyone shift you out of your place for too long.  I mean life would be boring if you kept everything fun and unexpected at bay, but remember what you are doing and why you’re doing it!

So, here I am, calling myself out and making myself refocus on my stated plan!

Well I hadn’t planned on going to the gym today, did 2hrs yesterday, so I planned on doing some work for most of the day and then chilling out with my kid!  But low and behold by mid day I’d finished my work and found I had this urge to burn some fat! So off I went.

The place was quiet, only about half a dozen ideal body seekers in this Sunday afternoon!  I set myself on the cross trainer, setting the workout to “Hill” instead of my usual “Random” that I have on level 8 or 9!  Wow, the “Hill” felt like a hill and I only had it on level 3.  I thought once I warmed up I would find it easier.  I set the workout for 40 mins, I usually do about 50 mins on my “Random”, and within 10 mins I was set fair and felt great!

My next machine was the “Stepper” If you remember I have a fear of this machine, but with the gym so quiet, it was my ideal time to get on it and once and for all demystify the damn thing!

I felt my calf muscles and my butt muscles immediately and it soon hit me why this machine was on my fear list.  Needless to say I managed about 8 minutes on the thing before I had to stop and retreat!

The good thing though, I got on it!  Next time I’ll 8 plus!  Guaranteed!

Well I had breakfast pretty late for me this morning, about 1000hrs.  Didn’t sleep great, so it took me a while to get going.  So once I got myself into gear, my kid wanted pancakes for breakfast so I made them for my little one and I had some muesli.

I make my own muesli, have done for years, can’t stand the shop bought stuff!  Too sweet!  I just throw some raw porridge oats, sultanas, desiccated coconut and flaked almonds into a bowl and flood the whole lot with a good gush of semi-skimmed organic milk!  Lovely!  I’ve learnt over the years I’ve been eating this home made muesli that you only need a little bit of each ingredient to end up with a bowl full of loveliness!

After I dropped my kid off at my mum’s, I went to the gym.  They were doing some running repairs so I couldn’t use the cross trainer and so I dipped between the treadmill and the bike - did about 50 mins in total on both of them.  Then finished off on some of the weight machines.

Back home and had a couple of bananas and lots of water - had been drinking water at the gym, so just continuing on really.

At about 1430 I finished off the ingredients for the chicken stir fry that were left over yesterday and made myself another chicken stir fry- I hate waste, so I really don’t mind eating the same meal two+ days running!

At about 1615hrs I made a fruit salad of grapes, strawberries and a banana and had a glass of semi-skimmed milk.  Lovely!

1830hrs, I succumbed to 2 of my kid’s chocolate biscuits and I will tell you now, they were bloody gorgeous!

Pretty much it for me apart from toothpaste and water now.  Another good day, let’s see what tomorrow brings!

If you are thinking about using the weight loss Alli pill to shed excess weight, then you should educate yourself about what it does and what it does not do.  Does it really work, you ask yourself?   What are the pros and cons surrounding the Alli pill?  This article will take a look at both sides of the equation.

Like anything you are thinking of using to help lose weight, that may affect your physical well being, it is always adviseable to consult your doctor before you give this pill a try.  Your doctor will be able to tell you if you are healthy enough to undertake this or any diet and whats more, will be able to monitor your progress.

So, How does the Alli Pill work?

Simply put, the Alli pill works as a fat blocker, ie it will prevent your body absorbing the fat from the foods you eat. What this does not mean is that just because you have decided to use this pill is that you can veg out and consume large amounts of food and the Alli pill will block the fat.  If you do this, you will gain weight, period!

For effective results, the Alli pill must be used with a low fat diet.  When using the Alli pill, you should increase your vegetable and fruit intake.  This will ensure your body receives the necessary vitamins and nutrition. One of the drawbacks to using the weight loss Alli pill is the reduction in the amount of protein your body would normally absorb.

As you know you draw energy from protein. Therefore, if your protein drops below a healthy level, you may experience a sense of tiredness, loss of mental sharpness and a general overall feeling of just not feeling well. If increasing your vegetables and your fruit intake does not stop these symptoms, then you would be well advised to consult your doctor for help.

Your energy levels aside, you should be aware that a major side effect of using the Alli pill for weight loss is that it may have a bearing on your physical health. Alli may have a strong effect on your bowels and your digestive system as a whole. This may well be your body getting used to the drug as you begin to use it, but it is a side effect that you should be aware of.

This is effect on the digestive system is because the Alli pill stops the body absorbing the fat in your diet and so the fat passes directly to your bowels for expulsion from your body.

Unfortunately this can occur quickly and at the most inopportune times. Please be aware that the possibility of loose bowel movements is so relevant that the manufacturers of Alli refer to this on their corporate web site.

They make a warning that you should be very prepared for uncontrollable bowels by making sure that you wear dark coloured clothes and also that you have a change of clothing with you at all times - all of which is extremely sobering!!!

But what does happen is that your body does become customized to the chemicals in Alli and the loose bowels will slow and eventually decrease. What will also help with the loose bowels, is if you stick to a low fat diet then there is less fat to bypass straight to the bowels.
